Position Information

  • Experienced BC pulmonary critical care physician is sought to work at Intermountain Medical Center; 0.2 FTE RICU Director, 0.5 FTE clinical, and 0.3 protected/productive time. Intermountain Medical Center is the tertiary, flagship hospital for Intermountain Healthcare, and affiliated with the University of Utah School of Medicine.  It is ranked among the top 50 pulmonary divisions in the United States by US News and World Report for 2017-2018. The Respiratory ICU is a 16-bed unit focusing on care of critically ill patients primarily with respiratory illnesses.
  • Member of the Intermountain full-time faculty with opportunities for clinical/adjunct appointment at the University of Utah and/or Stanford
  • Clinical and translational research in collaboration with faculty members at Intermountain Medical Center and other institutions
  • The RICU Director will facilitate enrollment of patients in clinical and observational trials, maintain the historical RICU focus on high quality clinical research to increase our knowledge of the science of critical care, and improve patient outcomes by helping identify and implement new processes of care
  • Six to eight weeks RICU daytime; two-nights RICU and up to two additional nights Shock Trauma ICU; two weeks STICU; one to two weeks pulmonary consult service; one half day Schmidt Chest Clinic, approximately 35 clinics yearly after inpatient weeks and vacation/meetings
  • Lead the further growth and development of the Respiratory ICU as Medial Director. Along with the RICU Nurse Manager, the RICU Director will be responsible for clinical quality as measured both by process and outcome measures. The RICU Director will be a leader in Intermountain’s system-wide coordination on optimizing ICU care delivery
  • Includes both bedside and didactic teaching and supervision of Advanced Practice Clinicians and RICU nurses
  • Participate in the educational activities of the division, and teach STICU fellows, residents, and University of Utah medical student while STICU attending and on clinic/consult services
  • Employment position with the Intermountain Hospital Group
  • Salary commensurate with academic rank
  • Nighttime stipend for nighttime critical care coverage
